In every space, participants could add a canvas (which respresent a contact) and add tekst, drawings, movies, images and web pages to it. Conclusions

This test shows that all participants have their own idea of making a board with contact persons. It seems that the freedom in personalizing and organizing contacts either enhances creativity or doesn’t enhance creativity. However, creativity comes in different ways: backgrounds, position of contacts, size of the contacts, images used for contacts, colors, tags etc.

A clear result is that the availability of standard backgrounds should consist of positive associations with low number of different colors image. However, it should be possible to create your own background. On top between 3 and 10 contacts are placed. Participants often do not organize at all and only tag the contact by the contacts’ name. They are sometimes placed in relation to their importance (from center outwards or from left to right) or group relations together. Images used for contacts are both associations as photographs. Size of the personal item does not play a role for seven out of eight participants. Since BambooSpace is a digital tool, researchers did not experience that personal items were placed by contacts. These are often physical. The use of personal items is experienced in the second study: “Grandma and her board”.

The way these aspects come together depends on the creativity of the person itself, but is never an obstacle in the pleasure that participants had in making it. All participants were satisfied with their result and could imagine that this could be an interface for a social network. This shows us that, from a user experience point of view, the personalizing features of KeyPing are of high value.
